Chicago Rush News Release

April 23, 2003 – Facing the prospect of having 14 players become free agents at the end of the season, the Chicago Rush has taken the first step toward stabilizing its future roster. The Rush announced today it has signed OL/DL John Moyer, offensive specialist Antonio Chatman and WR/LB Lindsay Fleshman to contract extensions that will keep the three in Chicago through the 2005 season.

"Moyer, Chatman and Fleshman are each among the best in the league at their positions," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "As a coach it feels great to know that we will have all three of them here for the next several years."

Moyer, a 2002 second-team all-Arena selection, is having the best season of his five-year career. Moyer has recorded a career-best six sacks this season, ranking him second in the AFL. In addition, he leads all Rush linemen in tackles (19), fumbles forced (2), fumbles recovered (2) and interceptions (1).

Chatman is proving his presence on the 2002 all-Rookie team was no fluke. Chicago's leading receiver, Chatman leads the AFL in all-purpose yards (2,690), kickoffs returned for touchdowns (5) and kick-return average (25.6), and is among the top 10 in the AFL in scoring (168), receptions (85) and receiving yards (1,115).

Despite missing the season's first three games with a broken hand, Fleshman is Chicago's second-leading receiver and fifth-leading tackler, catching 40 passes and scoring 11 touchdowns, while recording 24 stops and two interceptions.

This week the Chicago Rush (5-7) looks to rebound from last week's overtime loss to Dallas as it host the Central Division-leading Grand Rapids Rampage (8-4) at Allstate Arena Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. Fans wishing to purchase individual game tickets to the Grand Rapids game, or any Rush regular season home game, may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212 or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
