Jackson Senators News Release
Jackson, MS; June 14, 2004- In a tale of what felt like 2 completely different ballgames, the Fort Worth Cats knocked off the Jackson Senators 5-3. Jackson's Nick Vandegriff pitched a perfect game for 5.1 innings and looked stellar going into the 7th inning leading 1-0. The Senator run scored when Tyson Boston led off the 5th inning with a double, which was followed by an RBI single by Chris Vasquez. Jackson took their 1 run lead into the top of the 7th inning but lost it all in that inning due to errors. The Cats scored 5 unearned runs in the inning on 2 Senator errors and 3 base hits. Vandegriff would come out that inning in place of Reid Casey.
After the disastrous 7th, the Sens attempted a comeback in the 8th scoring 2 runs with Tranum and Langaigne snagging RBI's. In the 9th, the Senator's Nick Sorenson doubled and Josh Hoffpauir was up with 2 down, but Hoffpauir grounded out and that ended the ballgame. Fort Worth's Angel Aragon was tough tonight going 6.2 rendering only 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 5. This was the last game of the 4 game series with both teams winning 2 games each.
