Reno 1868 FC News Release

Reno, Nev. - In the first two weeks of USL Championship play, Reno 1868 FC and OKC Energy FC had two things in common; neither club lost their first two games, and both clubs put out an article with a headline that incorporated the phrase "Brown's Brace."

Jamaican Forwards Brian Brown and Deshorn Brown play for two different clubs, but bring striking similarities to their respective teams.

Brian Brown, originally from Sandy Bay, Jamaica, played for Harbor View FC in the Jamaican Red Stripe Premier League in 2013 and brought his talents stateside when he was loaned to the Philadelphia Union. Brian Brown then spent time with Indy Eleven and Charlotte Independence before signing with Reno 1868 FC in 2017.

In Reno's first match of the season, Brown scored in the 63rd minute to help the team in their 2-2 draw against Orange County SC. In the second match of the season against Austin Bold FC, Brown scored in the 46th minute and 78th minute to help the club defeat Austin Bold FC 2-1.

Three days after his brace, Reno 1868 FC announced that Brown had been called up to the Jamaican National Team. The forward was on the bench for the March 23 CONCACAF Nations League Qualifier against El Salvador and started in the March 26 friendly against Costa Rica.

Deshorn Brown, originally from Manchester, Jamaica, came to the U.S. to play collegiate soccer. After spending time with two USL League Two teams, Des Moines Menace and Reading United the forward was drafted 6th overall by the Colorado Rapids in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Brown spent two successful seasons with the Rapids (including the 2013 Rapids Golden Boot) and then went on to play in both Norway and then China from 2015 to 2016. In 2017, the forward played with the Tampa Bay Rowdies and D.C. United before taking is talents to Europe in 2018 to play for Lorca FC in Spain.

Also, from 2013 to 2015, Deshorn Brown made 15 appearances for the Jamaican National team and notched two goals.

In September of 2018, Deshorn Brown announced he had signed with OKC Energy FC. This season, the forward has three goals for the club.

This Saturday, the two Browns face off in Reno 1868 FC's match against OKC Energy FC. Reno is coming off of a 1-1 draw in Fresno and OKC Energy FC is coming off of a 4-1 loss to Sacramento Republic FC.

Saturday's match will be Brian Brown's first match back from his time with the Jamaican National team.
