
\'Cats finish regular season with 10-4 Win

Edmonton, AB-The Edmonton Cracker-Cats concluded their 2008 regular season with a 10-4 victory against the Calgary Vipers. Their overall record will now go into the record books at 51-37. The Battle of Alberta playoffs are set to begin on September 2nd and 3rd in Edmonton, following by three games, September 5-7th in Calgary. The winner of the best of five series will then take on the south division winner.
âCats starter, Nick Peterson 5.0 innings, allowing four runs and four strikeouts. Because of an suspension to first basemen Joe Jiannetti, Peterson hit in the ninth spot. Dave Humen came into the game in the ninth to close it out for the âCats. He held Calgary back, striking out one to end the game.
Former Viper, Phil Sobkow went 5.1 innings allowing eight runs and two walks to go along with two strikeouts.
The Cats generated three runs in the third as Jose Valdez was hit by a wild pitch bringing in the first run of the inning. Jose Morban scored on a wild pitch, and John Pasieka had an RBI single to give the âCats a three run lead.
The âCats added to their offensive output in the fourth, with three more runs added to the board.
In the sixth, Jose Valdez grounded out to the first basemen to bring home another run and Johnathan Castro cashed in two RBI's as he singled into left field.
