Coates Is ECHL Hall of Fame Speaker

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that Philadelphia Flyers color commentator Steve Coates will be the guest speaker at the ECHL Hall of Fame induction luncheon on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at the Sovereign Performing Arts

Center in Reading, Pa.

The 2009 ECHL Hall of Fame Class is John Brophy, Blake Cullen, Tom Nemeth and Rod Taylor.

Coates, who has been a member of the Flyers broadcast team for more than 25

years, played seven professional seasons including five games with the Detroit Red Wings in 1976-77. He won Mid-Atlantic Emmys for Best Live Sports Coverage in 2000 and 2004 and also serves as a guest host on Comcast SportsNet's SpotLIGHT and Daily News Live.



The inaugural ECHL Hall of Fame class inducted in 2008 was Henry Brabham, Patrick J. Kelly, Chris Valicevic and Nick Vitucci. Inductees are enshrined

in the ECHL Hall of Fame, which is open around the clock online at ECHLHallOfFame.com, as well as being recognized at the league office in Princeton, N.J. and in the ECHL section at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario.
