WINNIPEG, MB - Despite out-shooting the Manitoba Moose 32-22, the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime on Saturday night at the MTS Centre. With the overtime loss, the âDogs earn a point and take three of a possible four points in their two-game set in Manitoba. At the Christmas break, Hamilton's record is 9-12-1-5 through 27 games.
Hamilton opened the scoring at 14:21 of the first period courtesy of Duncan Milroy's seventh goal of the season. Milroy tipped Jean Philippe Cote's shot from the point past Manitoba's Drew MacIntyre to make the score 1-0.
With two goals in the second period, the Moose took a 2-1 lead. On the power play, Milan Gajic registered his first goal of the season at the 1:26 mark to even the score 1-1. Zack FitzGerald then notched his third tally of the campaign at 2:50 of the frame to give Manitoba a one-goal lead.
The Bulldogs responded at 16:18 of the middle stanza when Daniel Corso, playing in his first game with Hamilton, scored his first goal of the season and as a Bulldog to make the score 2-2. Francis Lemieux earned the lone assist on Corso's goal.
After a scoreless third period, Nathan McIver posted his second goal of the season with just 23 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Moose to a 3-2 win. Greg Classen and Ryan Shannon drew helpers on McIver's game-winning goal in the extra frame.
Hamilton was 0-for-4 on the power play while Manitoba went 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
Between the pipes, Halak stopped 19 of 22 shots in a losing effort for the Bulldogs, while Drew MacIntyre made 30 saves on 32 shots to pick up the win for the Moose.
