(Binghamton)... The Rochester Americans dropped a 2-1 decision to the Binghamton Senators tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The loss was the ninth straight loss for the Amerks, one shy of the team's all-time record.

The contest was the fourth of eight meetings between the two teams with the Sens holding a 4-0-0 series lead. The Senators' victory was sparked by three power-play goals. Josh Hennessy led Binghamton with one goal and two assists. Brian Elliott earned the win in a 30-save effort, while Tyler Plante made his second straight start in goal for Rochester and took the loss.

Senators' Lawrence Nycholat opened the scoring at 1:00 of the first period, while on the power play. The Amerks tied the contest at one with Stefan Meyer's ninth of the season from Clarke MacArthur and Mark Mancari. The power-play goal was at 13:53 of the second period.

Binghamton, however, regained the lead at 14:12 of the third period with a power-play tally from Hennessy. Greg Mauldin iced the game with a power-play goal with 36 seconds to play.

Last night, the Amerks dropped their eighth straight, a 4-2 loss to the North Division leading Toronto Marlies at The Blue Cross Arena. The loss moved Rochester within two of tying its all-time record for consecutive losses set back in 1981 and matched in 1988.

After Christmas, the Amerks prepare for four games in five nights. Three of those games are at The Blue Cross Arena, beginning with a 7:05 p.m. contest on Wednesday, December 26th against Toronto. The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.
