Pie Hits for Cycle, July 4th Show
June 28, 2004 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Daytona Tortugas News Release
*Felix Pie became the first Cubs player to hit for the cycle Sunday afternoon since Cubs Outfielder Adam Greenberg did Aug. 17, 2002, in a 17-1 win against the St. Lucie Mets. Pie had two singles, a double, a triple and a 3-run Home Run to cap off a hitting clinic at Jackie Robinson Ballpark Sunday. Both teams combined for 38 hits, but our Cubbies pulled out the 15-14 victory in the bottom of the 10th.
**The race portion of your weekend may be over on Sunday, but the fun is just beginning. Tickets are still available for the Cubs Sunday, July 4th Fireworks show at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Game time is set for 7:00 pm, with the gates to the ballpark opening at 6:00 pm.
Your Eastern Division Champions will be taking on the dreaded Brevard County Manatees on the 4th. Our closest in proximity opponent in the Florida State League and what many consider our biggest rivalry.
Following the last out of Sunday night's game will be the biggest and best fireworks extravagannza in Daytona Cubs history. That's right, you may have thought our first two fireworks show were something special this season, but you haven't seen any fireworks show until you see what the Cubs are putting on Sunday evening.
There are many ways to still get tickets for the July 4th game. You can stop by the Cubs office at the Jack, give us a call to order by credit card at 386-257-3172 or simply order on line through our website at www.daytonacubs.com.
Hot dogs, baseball, fireworks and July 4th. What more could you ask for?
