7 Days for Boarding Contest Winner Announced

March 18, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, MB. - Branden Crowe may soon get a big hug from Terryl Maduke of Sandy Lake.

Terryl was chosen Monday morning by the play by play "voice" of the Brandon Wheat Kings as winner of this year's "7 Days for Boarding Contest", presented by Q Country Radio, Sell off Vacations and West Jet Vacations.

The grand prize, valued at over $3,500 Canadian, is a 7-day trip for two to Cancun Mexico next winter. In addition to the round trip airfare, the Madukes will receive 7 night hotel accommodations, with all hotel taxes and processing fees covered plus all-inclusive meals and beverages. Monday's draw was made "live" on air with Q Country's Trent Bartley.

She was one of 32 western Manitobans that qualified for this year's grand prize. In order to qualify, fans were encouraged to tune into Q Country's Post Game Show with Crowe and Pete Gerlinger to hear which Wheat King player was named the "Impact Player of the Game". Then fans were invited to listen to Q Country the following morning to hear the ref whistle sound effect and be the correct caller through to tell us who that player was.

The contest, which was administered by both the radio station and Sell off Vacations Branch Manager Jennifer Murray, began last October, with the final qualifier determined Sunday morning after the Wheat Kings 5-4 overtime shootout victory over the Regina Pats the night before.

Saturday's game before close to 5,000 fans at Westoba Place brought the curtain down on the Wheat Kings 2018-19 WHL season.
