7-1 Romp over Cowlitz Gives Gems Two Straight Wins and the Series

Klamath Falls, OR: June 26, 2013 The Gems cruised to a 7-1 win over the Cowlitz Black Bears on Wednesday night at Kiger Stadium in the finale of the three game series. Nick Sabo (Long Beach St) scattered four hits in five innings to improve to 3-0 on the year as Jackson Lockwood (University of Portland) and Antony Olmo (San Mateo Community College) combined to shut down the Bears on one hit over the last four innings.

The Gems enjoyed a 13 hit attack, led by Cody Hough (University of California Riverside) who homered and drove in two runs and Paul Panaccione's (Grand Canyon University) two RBI's. Klamath Falls improved to 11-7 on the year with their second straight win, and remain in 2nd place in the South Division, a game back of division leader Bend. Cowlitz falls to 7-8, losers of two straight games.

The next Gems game will be Thursday, June 27th as the Gems host the Wenatchee AppleSox, with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. Thursday's promotion is Thirsty Thursdays!
