Kelowna Falcons Win Series
June 27, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Kelowna Falcons completed their first series win of the summer on Wednesday evening, beating the Walla Walla Sweets 9-2. The game was a fundraiser for the BC Fire Fighters Burn Fund, in which over $5,000 was donated.
After the Sweets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the third, the offense awoke showing signs of the fireworks that were to come following the game. The bats struck for nine runs on 11 hits to give starter Marc-Andre Habeck his first win of the season.
The Falcons would tie the ball game in the fourth after Cody Scaggari recorded his first RBI of the season scoring Nolan Johnson who singled to lead off the inning.
Then in the fifth the Falcons took the lead on a Johnson double scoring Grayson Porter who doubled on the pitch before.
In the sixth the Falcons exploded for seven runs with two out, sending 13 men to the plate. Jarryd Klemm had a two run single; Johnson tallied his second RBI of the game, while Joe Robbins and Darren Kolk recorded RBI sac flies.
Four players had multi-hit games while Scaggari, Klemm and Johnson each had two RBIs each.
Following the game the Kelowna Fire Department lit up the sky with a firework display that the fans thoroughly enjoyed.
The Falcons (5-13) will now have an extended nine game road trip which will see them travel to Bend, Cowlitz and Victoria beginning on Saturday. The club will finally return home on Monday July 8 when they take on the visiting Cowlitz Black Bears.
