Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Tulsa 66ers defeated Sioux Falls Skyforce 88-83 Friday night. Tulsa held Sioux Falls to 39.5 percent shooting (32-of-81) from the field and snapped the Skyforce's seven-game home winning streak.
Sioux Falls (20-13) led 28-18 after the first quarter behind 12 points from Demetris Nichols. Tulsa (17-15) held Sioux Falls to 16 points in the second and third quarters to take a three-point lead (63-60) into the final quarter. Sioux Falls trailed 75-72 following a jumper by Nichols with just over six minutes to go in the contest but Tulsa went on a 7-1 spurt to take an 82-73 lead. Sioux Falls got within five points (82-77) with 1:08 to go but Tulsa went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line to ice the game.
Rasual Butler posted 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks to lead the 66ers. Chris Quinn recorded 13 points, five rebounds and six assists while Rodney Bartholomew contributed 13 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Nichols recorded a game-high 25 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Mychel Thompson and Mark Tyndale each scored 13 points while Mustapha Farrakhan chipped in with 11.
The same two teams tangle at the Sioux Falls Arena tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CT.
