5 Things to Watch vs. the Heat - Holiday Ticket Deals
December 9, 2016 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - With a tough loss to the Cedar Rapids Rampage still stinging in the memories of the Syracuse Silver Knights, club General Manager Tommy Tanner peered into a crystal ball (allegedly in Mattydale. near the old Cinema North) with an inquiry about Five Things to Watch in the Silver Knights Match versus Harrisburg on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
The first thing Tanner saw is that the match is available for fans to watch live on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?vJsBC98ixdEs
As Tanner gazed more deeply, he reported the following five revelations about the upcoming match.
1. Will former Silver Knight Elmo Neto bolster the Harrisburg attack vs. Syracuse?
Doubtful.
The former Knight is now with the Heat, after being a thorn in the Knights' side last season when he played for Cedar Rapids and helped his team defeat Syracuse. The soccer grapevine says Neto is not likely to be active for the match as a result of a sports hernia.
2. Will Syracuse forward Joey Tavernese continue on his scoring spree?
After failing to score in the home opener, Joey has scored goals in consecutive games. Tavernese's ability to find the back of the net is a key for Syracuse securing a victory in Harrisburg.
3. Who will win the set-piece and power play battle?
For his third revelation, Tanner peered even more deeply into the crystal, drawing on decades of experience playing and analyzing the sport.
"The first game between these teams resulted in the Knights producing from both set pieces and a power play - with the Heat, who had many free kicks on the top of the box and a power play, failing to convert," Tanner observed. Winning these battles will are keys to victory in the MASL.
4. The Kenardo Forbes effect
"Will Kenardo spark the Knights' offense and get them quickly on the counter-attack to score on man-up situations vs the Heat - Tanner wondered. The Knights have not generated as many odd-man rushes as in past years to start the season.
"Kenardo breaking out on the attack is always a good sign for the Knights offense," Tanner noted.
5. The keeper battle
Both keepers had outstanding games in their first battle on Dave and Buster's Field on Nov. 18. Harrisburg's Hugo Silva blanked the Knights in the first half, only to see his side blanked by Syracuse keeper Andrew Coughlin in the second half of the Knights' 5-2 victory. Tanner's crystal ball foretells that the young keeper who has a better outing could well determine which team comes out victorious.
