BURLINGTON, VT --- The Washington Nationals have announced that Darrell Rasner will be the starting pitcher for their game against the Florida Marlins on Tuesday night, making Rasner the 42nd former Vermont Expos player to reach the Major Leagues.

Rasner spent the entire 2005 season with the Double-A Harrisburg Senators, going 6-7 with a 3.59 ERA in 27 starts. The right-handed pitcher who was taken in the second-round of the 2002 draft out of the University of Nevada, went 2-5 with a 4.33 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 43.2 innings over 10 starts for Vermont during the 2002 season.

Along with being the 42nd former Vermont Expos player to reach the Major Leagues, Rasner will also be the 18th to play in the majors during the 2005 season.
