Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that Jeff Guerette of Westbrook became the first Red Claws' fan to sink a half court shot at the Portland Expo as part of the team's Pick-A-Seat weekend, winning a season ticket for the 2009-10 season. The Pick-A-Seat event will continue through Sunday from 10 AM - 3 PM daily.

Guerette, a social studies teacher and varsity football and jayvee basketball coach at Westbrook High School, was one of the first fans to attempt the half court shot this morning, sinking his shot at 10:30 AM. Guerette, who was already a Red Claws' season ticket holder, opted to add a third seat to his account.

Two more fans successfully hit the shot two hours later. Thomas Guzman of Scarborough and David Caldwell of South Portland sunk back-to-back baskets to win their Red Claws' season seats for 2009-10. Guzman works for Guzman Salsa while Caldwell works is the recreation supervisor for the city of Portland's Parks and Recreation Department.

The Red Claws' final Pick-A-Seat weekend will give fans one final sneak peek at the brand new parquet floor at the Portland Expo Building. Current season ticket holders will have the opportunity to check out the view from their seats while those thinking about purchasing tickets will have the opportunity to "try it before you buy it." Any fan in attendance who is able to sink a shot from center court will win a season ticket for the 2009-10 season.

Red Claws' season tickets have become a hot commodity as the expansion team continues to outpace all other teams in the 16-team NBA Development League in tickets sold and revenue. The team is closing in on the 1,200 mark for tickets sold and recently began a successful campaign for group tickets, with three full games already sold out. Individual tickets to be made available for purchase in October.
