3-2 Shootout Final Ends Series Between Fairbanks and Wenatchee

Game Two of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Wenatchee Wild series has come to a close and it is sending Fairbanks back to Alaska with two wins for the weekend. This match up was neck to neck down to the very last second and the final score came out to only 3-2 following an overtime and a shootout. In front of 3,047 loyal fans, the Wild played quick, they played big, and they played strong. Jake Ahlgren was the only goal scorer in the shootout for the Wild but Ivan Bondarenko and Tyler Rockwell were able to net goals for Wenatchee in regulation. Both Fairbanks and Wenatchee ended this game 1 for 3 on the power play.

Wenatchee opened the scoring for the night with a power play goal from Ivan Bondarenko at 2:54 with an assist for Stevie Bryant which would be his third point of the season. At 9:12 Fairbanks got on the board when Ethan Somoza put the biscuit past Wild goaltender Zach Quinn with help from Ryner and Hans Gorowsky.

Fairbanks drew first blood of the second period with a goal only 3 minutes and 23 seconds into the middle frame. This power play goal was credited to Jakob Stridsberg, Lonnie Clary picked up an assist, and Hans Gorowsky picked up his second point of the night with the other. Tyler Rockwell scored the last goal in regulation time exactly 17 minutes into the game with an assist for Brendan Harris.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Still tied at 2 each, there was no scoring in the overtime period resulting in a shootout.

Wenatchee was able to get 24 total shots on goal (8,7,8,1,0) during this game and Fairbanks recorded 27 (8,10,8,0,1). The Wild only recorded 3 infractions during this game and the minutes went to Ryan Chiasson (Tripping), Lukas Hedtke (Holding), and Mike Coyne (Boarding).

Zach Quinn saved 24 out of 26 shots on goal while being in goal for 65 minutes.

Ending the night on a positive note, Tyler Rockwell was awarded 3rd Star of the Game.

Coach Littler stated, "Better effort tonight. Probably deserved more than a point on the weekend. Learned some lessons this weekend that will help us later in the year."

The Wild will be back in action on Halloween (October 31st) when the Kenai River Brown Bears come to town for a three game series spanning over October 31st, November 1st, and November 2nd. All games will start at 7:05 pm PST except for November 2nd's game which has a 5:05 pm PST start time!
