The Madison Capitols secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers in a game that went down to the wire.
Andrew Kuzma showcased his scoring prowess once again, notching his 30th goal of the season, becoming just the second Capitols forward to achieve this milestone, alongside Austin Burnevik who boasts an impressive 40 goals this season.
Max Nagel also made his mark, becoming the 11th player in Capitols history to register 20 goals in a single season.
In a nail-biting finish, goaltender Berzins stood tall, turning away 35 of 37 shots on goal, ensuring Madison's victory. The game extended to a shootout, where Kuzma and James Hong sealed the deal for the Capitols.
This win marked a significant milestone for the Capitols, as they completed their first sweep of the season, overcoming their previous 0-5-2-1 record in sweep opportunities.
Under the guidance of head coach and GM Andy Brandt, the team achieved a franchise-high 72 points in their inaugural season, tying the franchise record with 33 wins, previously set in 1986-87 and 1988-89.
The Capitols concluded their regular season on an impressive 15-4-0-0 streak, which began on February 24th against Dubuque. With momentum on their side, they now eagerly anticipate the challenges of postseason play.
