2024 Muskegon Phase II Draft Recap

Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release


Muskegon Lumberjacks and USHL completed the 2024 Draft with Phase II on Tuesday afternoon. While Phase I is all about players entering their first year of junior hockey eligibility, Phase II allows teams to select any player eligible to play in the USHL.

The draft is 24 rounds all together, but the Lumberjacks only needed 11 picks to fill out their roster. Below meet and read about the 11 newest Lumberjacks.

ROUND: 1

PICK #: 13

PLAYER NAME: Drew Mackie

POSITION: Defense

PREVIOUS: Aberdeen WIngs

HOMETOWN: Anchorage, AK

BIRTH YEAR: 2005

With the 13th overall pick of the Phase II Draft the Lumberjacks picked up a strong defenseman out of the North American League in Drew Mackie. After 4 seasons at Shattuck St. Mary's Mackie made the jump to junior hockey and had an impressive season with 27 points from the blue line.

PICK #: 28

PLAYER NAME: Gleb Burlaka

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Yastreby Omsk U18

HOMETOWN: Donetsk, RUS

BIRTH YEAR: 2007

With the 28th overall pick the Lumberjacks selected Gleb Burlaka from Yastreby Omsk. The Jacks have found success from drafting Russian born players most recently with Matvei Gridin a projected first round draft pick in the 2024 NHL draft.

PLAYER NAME: Carter Sanderson

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Sioux Falls Power 16U AAA

HOMETOWN: Pierre, SD

BIRTH YEAR: 2007

With the 51st overall selection the Lumberjacks called the name of Carter Sanderson, a 2007 birth year from South Dakota. Sanderson brings solid size and playmaking ability to the USHL with 69 points in 65 games this season.

PLAYER NAME: Raiden LeGall

POSITION: Goalie

PREVIOUS: Niverville Nighthawks

HOMETOWN: Morden, MB, CAN

BIRTH YEAR: 2006

With the 68th overall selection the Lumberjacks took care of the back end with their first goalie of the Draft in Raiden LeGall. Last season in the NJHL with Niverville he held a .920 Sv% and 2.73 GAA.

PLAYER NAME: Jack Christ

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: St. Cloud (NAHL)/Chanhassen High

HOMETOWN: Chanhassen, MN

BIRTH YEAR: 2005

At #73 the Lumberjacks selected Jack Christ. With experience in the NAHL and Minnesota high school hockey last season Christ played well at both levels showing off his strong offensive abilities.

PLAYER NAME: Matthew Manza

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Toronto Patriots

HOMETOWN: Mississauga, ON, CAN

BIRTH YEAR: 2007

With the 77th overall selection the Lumberjacks called the name Matthew Manza. A future Ohio State Buckeye Manza recorded 49 points in 49 games in the OJHL with the Toronto Patriots last season.

PLAYER NAME: Isac Nielsen

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Rogle BK J20

HOMETOWN: Karlshamn, SWE

BIRTH YEAR: 2004

With the 83rd overall selection the Lumberjacks picked Isac Nielsen from the Sweden J20 league and Rogle BK. Nielsen brings a high motor and active stick to the ice which resulted in a 35 point season last year.

PLAYER NAME: Brady Milburn

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Chilliwack Chiefs

HOMETOWN: Kamloops, BC, CAN

BIRTH YEAR: 2005

With the #120th selection the Lumberjacks selected Brady Milburn of the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL. The future Lake State Laker picked up 42 points in 50 games last season, and added another 6 in 8 games in the postseason.

PLAYER NAME: C.J. Watroba

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: Kimball Union Academy

HOMETOWN: West Springfield, MA

BIRTH YEAR: 2007

The Lumberjacks selected C.J. Watroba with the #139th pick. A good two way forward Watroba moves well up and down the ice and creates good opportunities along all 200 feet.

PLAYER NAME: Sebastian Vitali

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: New Jersey Rockets 18U AAA

HOMETOWN: Brooklyn, NY

BIRTH YEAR: 2006

With pick #141 the Lumberjacks selected Sebatian Vitali from the New Jersey Rockets U18 AAA team. A 2006 birth year Vitali has impressed at the youth level and is committed to play college hockey at Colorado College.

PICK #: 150

PLAYER NAME: Aidan Pasic

POSITION: Forward

PREVIOUS: North Jersey Avalanche/Delbarton School

HOMETOWN: New York, NY

BIRTH YEAR: 2007

With the 150th overall selection the Lumberjacks added Aidan Pasic to the Jacks family. Hailing from New York, NY Pasic spent this past season playing with the North Jersey Avalanche and with the Delbarton School in USHS-Prep.
