2019-20 Front Office Staff Announced

San Diego Sockers News Release


SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Sockers announced their front office staff today in preparation for the 2019-20 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season. Coming off leading the MASL in attendance and earning the Best Sales Team Of The Year honors, the team is adding a community relations position and expanding the sales staff. The following is the list of people helping to make the Sockers a success on and off the field.

Sean Bowers, General Manager - In addition to his playing and coaching experience, Sean brings a diverse athletic and business background to the team for his fourth season as General Manager. He retired as a member of the PASL Sockers in 2009-10 after a successful 13-year indoor and futsal career. Sean also played in the MLS with Sporting Kansas City. He is the co-founder of 619Futsal, one of the premier youth academies in the country.

Chiky Luna, Player Personnel Director - Chiky enters his fourth season with the team. After winning four championships playing with the Sockers, he has hung up his cleats to handle all aspects of player personnel for the team. Under his guidance, the Sockers have won three consecutive division titles. In addition to his Sockers role, Chiky is the CEO of CaliFino Tequila brand.

Craig Elsten, Chief Marketing Officer - Along with being the "Voice of the Sockers" for eight years, Craig enters his second season as the team's Chief Marketing Officer. Previously, Elsten was the broadcast voice for all of the Sockers' games from their restart in 2009 through the 2014-15 season, also serving in that time as the team's media relations director.

Marybeth Hughes, Ticket & Merchandise Director - Marybeth has experience with many different sports organizations including Sporting Kansas City (MLS), Syracuse Silver Knights (MASL) and Cincinnati Kings (PASL). She begins her fifth season with the Sockers. In addition to her previous soccer club roles, she also coached competitive youth soccer for the Cardiff Soccer League and played collegiate soccer at Xavier University.

Shane Brown, Partnership Director - Shane begins his fourth season as the club's Partnership Director. With his experience and strong ability in creating business relationships, Shane is a rising star in the industry and has been a valuable asset to the Sockers. He also leads the six-person Sockers Squad - Fan Ambassador Team and handles all aspects of the Sockers Charity Golf Tournaments.

Jonathan Greene, Community Relations Director & Media Manager - Jonathan is moving from his role in Marketing to being in charge of Community Relations, which is the only change on the staff for the year. Entering his third season with the Sockers, he brings a wealth of experience of working in the community on both the sports and non-profit sides. He will maintain his duties as Media Relations Manager. Previously, he worked with WUSA's San Diego Spirit and USL's San Diego Flash. Jonathan also worked for thirteen years with two local Boys & Girls Clubs.

Melissa Mahan, Game Day Operations & Administrative Director - Melissa returns to the Sockers for her twelfth season. She has been the heart and soul of the Front Office, doing anything and everything in her power to ensure the continued success of San Diego's proudest sports franchise on and off the field.

Savanna Moorehouse, Account Executive - Savanna joins the front office as an account executive after a successful stint with Orangetheory Fitness. She is responsible for all club and community group ticketing efforts. Having played collegiate soccer at Western Washington University, Savanna brings her soccer passion and sales expertise to the front office.

Shellie Cluett, Creative Director - Shellie will be entering her eleventh season with the Sockers. As the creative content guru, she is vital to the continued success of the historic soccer franchise. Cluett is an industry leader in sports design and the Sockers are proud to have such a talented individual.

Alex Monnar, Team Manager & Sockers2 Director Of Operations - Alex begins his 11th season as Team Manager. He oversees team activities for the first team at practice and on the road, while being the Director of Operations for MASL2 Champion Sockers2.

The Sockers will renew their quest for a MASL championship in the 2019-20 season, with the league's official start date scheduled for November 22. The league schedule is expected to be out soon. For information on the Sockers, season ticket memberships and more, please visit SDSockers.com.
