2017 Steelhawks Camp Preview Series: Kicker...
January 9, 2017 - National Arena League (NAL)
Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Allentown, PA -The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are in the midst of finalizing their 2017 preseason training camp roster for the upcoming National Arena League season. The team is allowed to bring forty players into camp to vie for twenty-four roster spots leading into the teams NAL season opener on March 19th. As the team comes together, we'll start a camp preview series breaking down the team by position. To complete our camp preview series, are the unsung heroes: Kickers.
Returning to the Steelhawks for the 2017 season is kicker Spencer Hotaling (6'3, 200lbs, Susquehanna). Hotaling had a successful rookie season, coming up clutch more than once when the 'Hawks needed points. He scored 63 points on the season - connecting on 71% of extra points (37 of 52) and hitting nine deuces. During week seven, Hotaling was a perfect nine for nine on extra points and one for one on field goals to go along with a deuce for his thirteen points on the night.
Lehigh Valley is excited to have Hotaling returning for the 2017 season, and now that he had a full arena season under his belt, to utilize him more as a scoring threat this year. Head Coach Chris Thompson sees him only improving this season. "Spencer is a rare kicker in what he can bring to the table with his skill set. He had a great rookie season for us last year and we are expecting big things out of him in his sophomore season with us. I expect to see even more moonwalks on the goal line after he hits those deuces."
Training camp begins Sunday, February 26th for the Steelhawks. It will wrap up with the Annual Lehigh Valley Health Network Black and Vegas Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, March 11th. A full camp schedule will be announced at a later date.
