PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League have opened registration for their 2013 Pre-Draft Tryout Camp, to be held May 31-June 2 at Mount Clemens Ice Arena in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
The camp is a great opportunity for players to showcase their skill to the Fighting Falcons' coaching staff before the 2013 NAHL Entry Draft on June 4.
Fighting Falcons' head coach and general manager Michael Gershon hopes the talent pool at this season's Pre-Draft Camp is as strong as it was a year ago. Defenseman Mark Evan Auk, who began the 2012-13 season in Port Huron, first made his way onto the Fighting Falcons' radar at the 2012 Pre-Draft Camp.
Auk who earned a college commitment from Michigan Tech University and was called up to the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the USHL, is a perfect example of the player progression the Fighting Falcons and the NAHL strive to provide.
Zach Badalamenti became Port Huron's first round draft pick in 2012 based on his play at the Pre-Draft Camp. Lucas Little, who also took part in last year's camp, got some action with the Fighting Falcons this season, and is tendered for next season.
"This camp is our best opportunity to get a look at the talent in this area before the draft, and we hope to get the chance to see some guys that may have fallen under the radar to this point," said Gershon. "The talent at last year's camp obviously exceeded anything we could have hoped for and made draft day a lot easier.
"There is so much talent here in this area, and we want to make sure that we get a chance to see as many guys as we can before we make some decisions for the draft, and for our roster moving forward."
The cost of the camp is $275, and registration forms are available on the Fighting Falcons' website. To download forms, click "Tryouts" under heading "The Team."
