2012 Blizzard Year in Review

The Green Bay Blizzard had another year of record breaking performances in 2012 and reached the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.

The Blizzard ended the regular season with an 11-3 record and finished second in the United Conference. The team earned its third playoff victory in the IFL and advanced to the conference championship game for the second consecutive season. The 11 victories ties a team record (2008 & 2011) for regular season wins and the 12 total games won ties a team record (2006, 2008, 2009, 2011). The Blizzard are 15-1 at home in the last two seasons.

Head Coach Robert Fuller had a very successful first season at the helm of the Blizzard. He was named the 2012 IFL Coach of the Year and was the recipient of the 2012 Adam Pringle Award. Fuller also won both awards in 2011 as head coach of the Fairbanks Grizzlies.

In addition to the great overall team performance, the Blizzard also had several outstanding individual performances. Three Blizzard players earned All-IFL honors in 2012: La'Ron Council, First Team Running Back; BJ Hill, Second Team Defensive Back and Special Teams Kick Returner; and Seth Smalls, Second Team Offensive Line.

Blizzard running back La'Ron Council had one of the best seasons in indoor football. He broke Blizzard career and single season records for rushing yards (1,040) and rushing touchdowns (32). Council broke the Blizzard single season scoring record with 202 points scored. He also set Blizzard single game records with 148 rushing yards on June 16th and five rushing touchdowns on June 8th. Council broke IFL single season records for most rushing attempts (256), rushing yards (1,040) and rushing touchdowns (32).

Defensive back and kick returner BJ Hill added to his career records. During his three seasons with the Blizzard, Hill has accumulated 20 interceptions, 200 total tackles and 2,371 return yards. Hill broke the IFL single season record for highest kickoff return average at 23.2 yards per return.

At the end of the regular season, the IFL awarded the Blizzard with 2012 Best Game Operations. The award is given on the basis of the best game presentation. This included half-time shows, giveaways, music, public address announcer, and on-field promotions.
