Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats have announced Phase Six of the 2011 Promotional Calendar featuring Theme Nights from August 5-7 and 12-17.
The RailCats look to build on the foundation of fun, affordable family entertainment by taking the ballpark experience to the highest level and enhancing the atmosphere and environment at U. S. Steel Yard at all 50 home games. The RailCats are bringing back a number of fan favorites, but be on the lookout for the new, exciting promotional nights and giveaways as the RailCats announce the promotional schedule in waves over the coming weeks.
Greek Night and Negro League Celebration - Friday, August 5 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Kansas City T-Bones
Calling all fraternities, sororities and all other community organizations with titles consisting of three greek letters! Don't miss the RailCats annual Greek Night as this special game includes discount tickets, fireworks and a Greek Mixer in U. S. Steel Yard's Hidden Gem, the Diamond Club! Call the RailCats at 219.882.2255 to book your group now! Another classic night makes its return to Northwest Indiana as the RailCats honor the unsung heroes of the Negro Leagues!
PJ Party, Pillowcase Giveaway and Faith & Family Night - Saturday, August 6 @ 6:10 p.m. vs. Kansas City T-Bones
Get ready for bed before you come to the ballpark for the RailCats First Annual Pajama Party at U. S. Steel Yard. Rock your favorite pair of slippers or even that really awesome onesie you've been looking for an excuse to wear in public. The first 1,000 fans to enter the park will also receive their very own RailCats Pillowcase, courtesy of The Times. The RailCats also welcome baseball fans of all faiths to gather at U. S. Steel Yard for Faith and Family Night to enjoy a game together with special group discounts available for any congregation! Call the RailCats at 219.882.2255 for more information!
Day at the Races - Sunday, August 7 @ 2:10 p.m. vs. Kansas City T-Bones
Gentlemen (and Ladies), start your engines as the RailCats have the best of the racetrack and the ballpark collide on this night. Race to U. S. Steel Yard on August 7 to see some pretty cool additions parked all over the concourse, and this 'Cats game will feature a number of special races in addition to the fan favorites.
Superhero/Villain Night - Friday, August 12 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Shreveport-Bossier Captains
Join the RailCats staff as we turn U. S. Steel Yard into the ultimate battle between good and evil. Dress up in your favorite superhero or villain and receive a special discount and come cheer on the good guys (the RailCats) as they battle the Captains!
Toothbrush Holder Giveaway, Breath Awareness Night and Boy Scout Sleepover - Saturday, August 13 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Shreveport-Bossier Captains
The first 1,000 kids entering the ballpark on this night will receive a RailCats toothbrush holder courtesy of The Times. A bad breath epidemic is sweeping the nation and the RailCats want to be part of the solution! Join the 'Cats as we help bring light to this sensitive issue and encourage people, for the sake of those around them, to brush thoroughly and remember that one breath mint or a piece of gum can go a long way! It's also boys' night out at The Steel Yard, as the RailCats invite hundreds of Boy Scouts from throughout the region to spend the night. For more information or to sign up your troop, call the RailCats at 219.882.2255.
Ginger Appreciation - Sunday, August 14 @ 2:10 p.m. vs. Shreveport-Bossier Captains
The RailCats will have extra sunscreen on hand on this night as we celebrate our fine, fair-skinned friends with red hair and freckles known as gingers. The term "ginger" has often been used in attempts to make light of these fine individuals but the RailCats are dedicating an entire night to build-up these awesome people. Many are not aware that redheads are typically believed to be highly artistic, fierce fighters, who have a greater than average tolerance for pain so join the RailCats as we look to celebrate the many contributions of the entire Ginger Community!
Mustache Monday - Monday, August 15 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Shreveport-Bossier Captains
The RailCats invite you to join us as we celebrate one of the most significant developments in the history of hygiene, the mustache. The earliest known artifact showing a shaved man with a mustache is an ancient Iranian horseman from 300 BC and the RailCats celebrate the art of the 'stache on this night. Start grooming your mustache to make sure it's ready for the RailCats first-annual Mustachathon where the best RailCats player mustache will square off with the best 'stache sported by a fan!
Vampire Night - Tuesday, August 16 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Shreveport-Bossier Captains
We don't care if you're a member of Team Edward or Team Jacob, the RailCats insist you join us for a night of blood-sucking fun on Vampire Night! U. S. Steel Yard will be a garlic free zone on this night as Count Rustula haunts the ballpark.
Mystery Night - Wednesday, August 17 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Shreveport-Bossier Captains
Everyone should be extra-excited for this night because we're not telling you what's happening! This night will truly be a mystery that you will have to solve for yourself because what happens at U. S. Steel Yard on August 17 stays at U. S. Steel Yard.
