2010 Roughnecks Training Camp Update

West Texas Roughnecks News Release
MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Tuesday, February 23 that DB Michael Dampier and WR Quentin Holman have been released following coaching staff meetings that took place Monday (February 22) evening and Tuesday morning from Andrews, Texas. Dampier (5'11", 190 lbs.) and Holman (6'1", 200 lbs.) were part of the two-day waiver tryouts that took place at training camp.
Additionally, the Roughnecks announced that all invited veteran players are scheduled to report to camp on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Players will be in pads for the first time in camp starting on Wednesday morning at approximately 10:00 a.m. and the second of the two-a-day workout is scheduled at approximately 5:00 p.m. from the Mustang Bowl in Andrews, TX. Due to weather constraints the Roughnecks will not be having practice on Tuesday evening from the Mustang Bowl. All coaches and player meetings will continue on as scheduled for Tuesday.
Coach Williams Transcript - Training Camp Update -
"I've been very happy with how camp has progressed up until this point. We certainly have many terrific athletes at all the positions for camp this season and the competition at each position will continue to grow in the next few days. I'm excited about the level of talent that we have." stated Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams.
"We are excited about the start Jorvorskie Lane has had in camp and Jermaine Blakely has looked sharp on the defensive side. We are also impressed with the leadership qualities that Blakely has brought to camp. Jerek Hewett (East Carolina) and Eric Henri (Mary-Hardin Baylor) have been impressive and we are also encouraged by Walter Washington's transition to the running back position." further explained Williams.
