2007 Steamwheelers Schedule Announced

(Davenport, IA) - The arenafootball2 league announced the 2007 schedule today and the Steamwheelers will be playing six of their eight home games in the second half of the season. All home games will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday nights.
"I really like this schedule," said Sean Ponder, the Steamwheelers' head coach. "The schedule is setup in a way that allows us to play most of our division games in the second half of the season. I think it is great that we get to play four of our last five games at home in front of our fans."
The 2007 Steamwheelers schedule only has two long road trips that will require flights. The 'Wheelers travel to Spokane in the second week of the season and then fly to Birmingham in week seven.
"This appears to be a much more manageable schedule," said Mike Bawden, the Steamwheelers' Managing Partner. "In the past, we've had to do a lot of traveling by plane. This season that appears to have changed with all but two destinations easily reachable by bus.
"In addition, I really think the league gave us a great home schedule that should appeal to our fans in this community. While we have a lot of away games at the beginning of the season, I really think that when this team comes home in May, they will bring a lot of momentum leading to a fantastic finish at The MARK."
The Steamwheelers will play six of their sixteen games against four first-year teams in Cincinnati, Boise, Fort Wayne and Mahoning Valley. Cincinnati and Fort Wayne will be in the American Conference Midwest Division with the Steamwheelers. The other division members are Green Bay and Louisville.
