. - IN THE STANDINGS: The Bats have spent the following days alone or tied at each position in the International League West Division standings: FIRST - 5, SECOND - 6, THIRD - 6, FOURTH - 135. Louisville finished with a 66-78 record, fourth in the International League's West Division, 23.0 games behind first place Toledo.

. - ABOUT THE MANAGER: Manager Rick Sweet entered the 2005 campaign as his 17th season as a minor league manager. Sweet entered 2005 as one of 12 active managers to record 1,000 career wins. He now has a record of 1,115-1,133. Sweet spent the 2004 season with the Erie SeaWolves, Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers where he guided the SeaWolves to an 80-62 record and a playoff appearance.

. - BATS INSIDE PITCH: The Louisville Bats debuted a weekly half-hour show on ICN-2 in Louisville on Wednesday, March 30. "Bats Inside Pitch" premiered a new show at 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday, with replays at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, 7:30 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday, and 4 p.m. Sunday on ICN2 (Insight channel 2). Bats radio broadcasters Jim Kelch and Matt Andrews hosted the show each week. The final episode of the 2005 season aired Wednesday, September 7 at 8:30 p.m.

. - ON THE ROAD (31-41): Hit .267 (682-2554) with 55 HR, 320 runs scored (4.44/g) and a 4.79era.

. - AT HOME (35-37): Hit .267 (634-2372) with 54 HR, 295 runs scored (4.09/g) and a 4.31era.

. - EDWIN ALL-STAR: Despite playing in just 78 games this season at the Triple-A level, Louisville's Edwin Encarnacion played well enough to be named the third baseman for the International League All-Star Team. He made his Triple-A debut this April after a tremendous 2004 season that included being named to the Southern League Post-Season All-Star Team. Encarnacion played in his third consecutive MLB All-Star Futures Game this July, and three days later was named the Player of the Game for the IL in the Triple-A All-Star Game. On July 23, Encarnacion was recalled for good when Joe Randa was traded to the Padres organization.

. - GOING INTERNATIONAL: Four Reds farmhands were chosen to represent their countries in this fall's World Cup, which began play in the Netherlands on Friday, September 2. Chattanooga catcher Brian Peterson will play for the U.S. team, Sarasota first baseman Joey Votto will represent Canada, Billings shortstop Yoni Lasso will play for Panama and Louisville third baseman Jose Leon will play for Puerto Rico.

. - STRIKEOUT RECORDS: Louisville hitters struck out 1,069 times on the season, a new franchise record for strikeouts in a season. The previous mark of 1,060 was set in 2004. On the other side, Louisville pitching struck out 1,012 batters this year, breaking the previous mark of 1,010 also set in 2004.

. - SWANN-DERFUL: OF Pedro Swann was named Louisville Bats Player of the Year for 2005. Swann led the team in games played (127), at-bats (456), runs (67), hits (130), doubles (29), home runs (18), RBI (85) and multi-hit games (36). Swann set a new career high with his 85 RBI on the season. His previous high was 83 set in 1997 while with Double-A Greenville in the Atlanta Braves organization. His 18 HR were a new Triple-A career high. Swann was named Louisville Hitter of the Month for July (.293-8hr-23rbi).

. - BOOKER JOINS THE 20 SAVE CLUB: RHP Chris Booker saved his 20th game of the season on September 3 to become the ninth Louisville pitcher with 20 or more saves in a season. The last Louisville pitcher to hit the 20 save mark was RHP Carlos Almanzar who had 23 in 2003. Mike Perez holds the record for most saves in a season with 31 in 1990. Booker was named Louisville Pitcher of the Month for June (4-1-4, 3.21era) and his eight victories on the season led all Louisville pitchers. Chris, who was not on the Reds 40man roster all season, had his contract purchased by Cincinnati 9/5 and made his Major League debut that night.

. - HE FILLS THE HOLES: IF/OF/P Alex Pelaez played first base, second base, third base, designated hitter and pitched 1.0ip this season. All three of Pelaez' home runs came on the road.

. - WALK YOUNG MEN: Louisville walked only 365 times as a team this year, which set a new franchise record for least amount of walks taken in a year. The previous low of 387 was set in 1996.

. - ATTENDANCE NUMBERS: Louisville finished the season drawing a total of 643,466 fans over 70 home openings, an average of 9,192 fans/game. Louisville Slugger Field was also the site of five sellouts during the 2005 year marking a total of 34 sellouts in the six-year history of the stadium.

. - SERIES RESULTS: Louisville went 10-16-20 through 46 series' on the year. Louisville won consecutive series' only one time, taking three of four at Durham 6/16-6/19 and taking three of four at Charlotte 6/20-6/23.

. - ROSTER MOVEMENT: Louisville used a total of 57 players on the year. Only Chris Booker, Tom Shearn, Steve Lomasney, Pedro Swann and A.J. Zapp were on the Bats active roster for the entire season.

. - REHAB PLAYERS: Seven players were with Louisville in 2005 on Major League rehab assignments (Rich Aurilia, Wily Mo Pena, Josh Hancock, Ray Olmedo, Randy Keisler and Kenny Kelly).

. - WORST RECORD: Louisville's final record of 66-78 is the worst record since becoming a Reds affiliate in 2000. It marks the first time since 1999 & 2000 Louisville had consecutive losing seasons. Louisville also finished with a 35-37 record at home, the first time in franchise history Louisville had consecutive losing records at home (35-37 in 2004). 23.0 games out of first place is the furthest a Louisville team had finished out of first since 1997 when the then Redbirds finished 28.5 games out of first.

. - THREE TIMES A CHARM: Louisville turned only the third triple play in franchise history July 20 @ Pawtucket in the bottom of the second inning (Encarnacion-Pelaez-Bell). The last triple play Louisville turned was July 10, 1993 vs. Indianapolis and the first was August 2, 1989 at Denver.

. - AWARD WINNERS: Four Louisville pitchers were named International League Pitcher of the Week during 2005. Elizardo Ramirez (4/7-4/17), Randy Keisler (4/18-4/24), Jimmy Serrano (7/4-7/10) & Alex Graman (8/29-9/5). Pedro Swann was the lone Louisville hitter to win IL Batter of the Week (8/29-9/5). Swann and Graman are the only pair of teammates to sweep the IL weekly awards this season.

. - DOUBLES RECORDS: IF A.J. Zapp (7/8 vs. DUR) & IF Jeff Bannon (8/25 @ COL) tied a Louisville franchise record by knocking three doubles in a game. It had been done 12 previous time, most recently by Corky Miller 6/25/03 vs. NOR.

. - LONG BALL: C Miguel Perez, who was promoted to Louisville 8/9 after Dane Sardinha was placed on the disabled list, belted his first Triple-A home run 8/18 vs. SWB off Mike Bacsik. The home run was estimated at 454 feet, the 9th longest in LSF history.

. - HITTING STREAK: OF Kenny Kelly had the longest hitting streak by a Bats player this season, a 16-game streak from 4/27-5/16. During the streak, Kelly hit .413 (26-63). It was tied for the eighth longest hitting streak in the IL this season.

. - LOSING MONTHS: Louisville had a losing record in all five months this year. It was the first time Louisville had a losing record in every month since 1997.

. - ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE: OF Chris Denorfia and RHP Allan Simpson were selected to participate in the 2005 Arizona Fall League for the Mesa Solar Sox. Other players in the Reds system who will also play for Mesa are RHP Bubba Nelson, Ryan Hanigan, IF Kevin Howard and IF Joey Votto. Bats trainer Chris Lapole will be a trainer for the Mesa team as well.

. - RECORD SETTER: OF Austin Kearns tied a Louisville franchise record and set a career high by hitting three home runs 7/5 @ Indianapolis. Kearns joined Tom Pagnozzi (1987), Dan Driessen (1987) & Jose Oliva (1996) as the only players in franchise history to hit three home runs in a game. Kearns' six RBI that evening was a season high for a Louisville players.

. - MR. LOUISVILLE GOES TO THE MAJORS: Bats captain Aaron Holbert had his contract purchased by Cincinnati August 16. Holbert hit .304 in 68 games for the Bats. He became Louisville's all-time hits leader June 7and now has 471 total hits in his Louisville career. Holbert is also second in franchise history in runs scored with 242 and is second in games played with 500. Holbert also holds the record for most at-bats in team history with 1,760.

. - MOST HITS BY AN OPPONENT: The 23 hits by the Charlotte Knights on June 7 in Louisville set a Louisville franchise record for hits in a game by an opponent. The record had been broken earlier in the season by Indianapolis on 5/31 at LSF when they had 22 hits.

. - STRATTON'S SHORT STAY: OF Rob Stratton played in only eight games for Louisville before having to have surgery on 4/19 to repair a torn left Achilles. Stratton hit four home runs in those eight games, including a game winning walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning opening night versus Ottawa.

. - BERGOLLA ON THE YEAR: IF William Bergolla spent the majority of 2005 with Louisville, batting .293 with 117 hits and 59 runs scored. Bergolla had two stints with the Reds, appearing in 17g, batting .132 with three runs scored. Bergolla was selected to play in the All-Star futures game 7/10 at Comerica Park in Detroit. On 8/25 at Columbus, Bergolla set a Bats season high and a personal career high with five hits.

. - DENORFIA MAKES IMPACT: IF Chris Denorfia began the season with Double-A Chattanooga before being promoted to Louisville May 26. Denorfia was named Louisville Hitter of the Month for June and August. His 20 HR combined between Louisville and Chattanooga on the season are a new career high. Chris was rewarded by having his contract purchased by Cincinnati on 9/6. He made his Major League debut 9/7 vs. Milwaukee.
