16 Quakes alum receive non-roster invitations to Los Angeles Angels Spring Training

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Sixteen alums of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have received non-roster invitations to attend Spring Training with the Los Angeles Angels, the parent Major League club of the Quakes. The announcement was made Thursday by Bill Stoneman, Vice President and General Manager of the Angels. The list of alums is highlighted by promising SS Sean Rodriguez, who in November was voted to the Topps' Class-A All-Star squad, top pitching prospect Nick Adenhart, and standout SS Brandon Wood, who led all Angels' minor-leaguers in home runs during the 2005 season, of which he spent the majority of his campaign in Rancho Cucamonga. In all, the invitations include eight players who logged time with Rancho Cucamonga during the 2006 season.

Included in the non-roster invitations are pitchers Nick Adenhart (2006 Quakes), Ryan Aldridge (2006), Nick Green (2006), Matt Hensley (2001-02), Tommy Mendoza (2005), Robert Mosebach (2006), and Matt Wilhite (2004), catchers Tim Duff (2005-06), Brent Del Chiaro (2003), and Ben Johnson (2005-06), infielders Mike Eylward (2003), Sean Rodriguez (2006), Casey Smith (2002-03), Hanley Statia (2006), and Brandon Wood (2005), as well as outfielder Aaron Peel (2005).

The Angels will open spring training in Tempe, AZ when pitchers and catchers report to camp on February 14th, with the first workout set for February 15th. Position players will report to camp on February 19th with the first full squad workout scheduled for February 20th. Other minor leaguers not invited to Major League camp will report to Tempe beginning in early March.

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are the Advanced-A California League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and open their 2007 season on Thursday, April 5th at home against the Lake Elsinore Storm.
