DENVER - March 22, 2009 - The Colorado 14ers scored the first 14 points of the game and never trailed in a 128-99 win over the Anaheim Arsenal at the Broomfield Event Center Sunday afternoon. All D-League candidate Josh Davis scored 11 straight to key a 27-2 run to open the game, and Colorado never looked back after outscoring Anaheim 44-21 in the first period.

Davis and Dominique Coleman combined for 25 first quarter points, hitting five of seven 3-pointers in the period. Colorado connected on six of its first eight from behind the arc, and led by as many as 26 points in the opening quarter.

"We've had trouble with back-to-backs, and the fact that we came in focused and ready to go is a sign of a team maturing and getting ready to make a run in the playoffs," said 14ers head coach Bob MacKinnon. "We jumped out 27-2, and to hold a team to two points on this level for the amount of time that we did tells me that we were so focused defensively that it got us into a flow offensively."

The 14ers would stretch their lead to 39 in the second behind nine points from Denver Nuggets assigned player Sonny Weems in the period. Colorado led by 35 at the half, and held at least a 27 point advantage the rest of the way.

Six 14ers scored in double figures, led by 23 from Davis. Defensive Player of the Year candidate Coleman added 21 with five rebounds and two steals, and Weems finished with 20 points, five rebounds, and six assists off the bench in the victory.

The Arsenal was led by Cedric Bozeman's 27 points on 14-17 shooting from the free throw line. Cameron Bennerman added 15 in the loss for Anaheim.

Colorado has now won 12 of 13 at the Broomfield Event Center, and improves to a D-League best 29-12 on the season. Anaheim falls to 15-29 and 6-14 on the road. The 14ers are now off until Friday when they will travel to Erie to take on the BayHawks. Anaheim will visit the Utah Flash on Friday.
