Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER - The Colorado 14ers selected 10 players in the NBA Development League Draft on Friday night for the 2008-09 season, including forward James Mays as the second overall pick. Mays participated in the NBA training camp with the 14ers affiliate Denver Nuggets in the fall of 2008.

Colorado also added nine more players in the 10 round draft: Forward Trey Gilder (2nd round), guard Marlon Parmer (3rd round), Dominique Coleman (4th round), John Gilchrist (5th round), Julius Page (6th round), David Godbold (7th round), Tony Champion (8th round), Eric Parker (9th round), and Shaun Davis (10th round).

"I'm very excited about all 10 of our selections tonight, starting with James Mays who we as a staff felt was the best player in the draft for us," said 14ers Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. " "I think we have some athletic players who will come in and make an impact in the league and cannot wait for the season to start on the 28th and even more so for our first home game on Nov. 30th. I think our fans will love what they see on the court."

Mays was an early entry candidate for the 2007 NBA Draft before withdrawing his name from consideration. He finished his collegiate career as Clemson's seventh all-time leader in steals (166) and ninth in blocked shots (94). He started 81 of 108 career games.

Gilder is a rookie forward coming to camp after earning All Southland Conference honors his senior season at Northwestern State. Parmer brings veteran experience to the point guard position after playing around the world in Estonia, Venezuela, Qatar, France, and the CBA.

Coleman is a 2007 graduate from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he played for former Buffaloes coach Ricardo Patton just minutes away from the 14ers home in Broomfield.

Gilchrist and Page are both well known for their college exploits, with Gilchrist directing the Maryland Terrapins and Page the Pittsburgh Panthers deep into the NCAA tournament in recent years.

Godbold comes to the 14ers from the University of Oklahoma where he ranks in the Sooners top 10 all-time in games played, 3-point field goals made, and 3-point field goals attempted.

Champion participated in the 14ers local player tryouts before being drafted by Colorado, while

Parker is a big body who provides strength in the low post. Davis is a rookie guard who finished his college career at New Mexico State after transferring from Pepperdine.
