One of the largest youth ice hockey tournaments in North America is getting ready to take place at Germain Arena for the tenth year in a row. The Annual Florida International Holiday Invitational starts December 27th and runs through December 31st. This year the tournament has 60 teams participating hoping to be crowned champions. Teams have come from Florida, New York, Colorado, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Ontario.

The Mite, Squirt, and Peewee age groups take the ice December 26th until December 29th. The Bantam and Midget age groups will get under way on December 29th and ending December 31st.

Not only will the tournament benefit Germain Arena but the local economy as well. With 48 teams coming from outside the Southwest Florida immediate area the hotels and restaurants are expected to receive a financial boost before the year ends. It is estimated that over 3,600 hotel room nights will be used over the five-day tournament.
