10-Man Dynamo Fall to New England at BBVA Compass Stadium

HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo dropped their second match at BBVA Compass Stadium this season with a 2-0 loss to the New England Revolution this evening.

Houston's offense created 15 shots throughout the game and forced six saves from New England goalkeeper Matt Turner, and forced 27 clearances from the Revolution backline.

Despite the Dynamo's offensive push, the Revs got on the board first with a counter attack in the 15th minute after forward Teal Bunbury kicked the ball the away from Dynamo midfielder Darwin Cerén near their own box finding midfielder Cristian Penilla. The midfielder sparked the counter attack with a pass to midfielder Luis Caicedo. The Colombian passed the ball back to Penilla, but this time inside the Dynamo's box, Penilla sent a low-cross to Bunbury inside the six yard box and gave the Revolution the lead with right-footed tap in.

New England extended their lead halfway through the second half. In the 71st minute, Penilla received a pass from defender Gabriel Somi on the left side of the field. Penilla dribbled toward the heart of the box and from tight angle fired a shot to the inside of the far post.

The Dynamo's first opportunity of the match was in the fifth minute when forward Alberth Elis' right-footed shot from 20-yards out was saved by Turner.

The Dynamo went down a man late in the first half after defender DaMarcus Beasley was shown a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity with a foul on Penilla.

The Dynamo tried to tie in the second half when Elis found himself in a one-on-one situation with Turner. In the 62nd minute, forward Mauro Manotas played a through ball to Elis from the middle of the field, La Panterita attempted a right-footed shot that was deflected by Turner.

In the 80th minute, forward Romell Quioto played a throw in to forward Mac Stevees on the left side of the field, Steeves sent a cross to midfielder Memo Rodriguez. Rodriguez connected inside the box, but his attempt went wide from the net.

The Houston Dynamo will have a week off as their road game against the New York Red Bulls was rescheduled to August 29 to accommodate the Red Bulls' participation in the CONCACAF Champions League Semifinals.
