NEW YORK (May 1, 2017) - The Miami FC has been the most prolific attacking side in the North American Soccer League (NASL) this season, but until Saturday night, the club's work in the final third wasn't paying dividends. Ghanaian international Kwadwo Poku helped rewrite that script at Riccardo Silva Stadium this past weekend, scoring a goal and creating a team-high six chances in Miami's 2-0 win over FC Edmonton.

Poku was named NASL Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts, which helped Miami move into second place in the NASL Spring Season Standings.

The 25-year-old forward found the back of the net in the 35th minute, finishing off a give-and-go with teammate Vincenzo Rennella to open the scoring on Saturday night. The goal was Poku's second this year, with the other coming in the club's season-opening draw against North Carolina FC.

Miami FC has scored a league-high seven goals through the first five weeks, but the second-year club's statistics suggest that its overall scoring tally could be much higher. Poku and his teammates have combined to fire off a league-high 84 shots and create a league-high 68 chances.

Poku, who joined Miami FC from MLS side New York City FC last year, tallied six goals and two assists in his first season in South Florida. The Kumasi, Ghana, native made his professional debut in the NASL in 2014 with the Atlanta Silverbacks before heading to the Big Apple.
