Drury the Newest Nashville Hawk
June 24, 2026 - Waterloo, Iowa - Former Waterloo Black Hawks forward Jack Drury was acquired by the Nashville Predators Wednesday as the result of a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, just days ahead of the 2026 National Hockey League Draft.
The swap involved a total of four players. Nashville also received forward Chase Bradley, plus a 2029 Draft choice. Colorado added forwards Zachary L'Heureux and Fedor Svechkov via the deal.

June 23, 2026 - Waterloo, Iowa - The Brett Olson era will officially begin when the Waterloo Black Hawks travel to the USHL Fall Classic in mid-September, but home fans' first chance to cheer for his team will be on Friday, October 2 when the Hawks host the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Two Standout Goalies Join Staff
June 22, 2026 - Waterloo, Iowa - The Waterloo Black Hawks have hired Troy Grosenick as goaltending coach, the team announced Monday. In addition, Waterloo alum Terry Jarkowsky will serve as the Hawks' goaltending scout.
Grosenick spent two successful seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. He went on to reach the National Hockey League, appearing for the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings. Hawks Remember Dave Swick
June 17, 2026 - Waterloo, Iowa - Dave Swick did not have imposing size, but his feisty play at just 5-feet, 4-inches helped make him a fan favorite, and the Waterloo Black Hawks won five consecutive USHL championships starting the winter he arrived from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Swick died on Tuesday at age 88.
