Hawks Always Offering Something Extra

Waterloo, Iowa - The Waterloo Black Hawks are one week away from the first of 30 home games in 2026/27, and like all of the others, the October 2nd matchup against the Dubuque Fighting Saints will provide value and entertainment that goes beyond 60 minutes of exciting hockey.

The opener against Dubuque is presented by Rydell Auto and will mark the 65 consecutive season of hockey in the Cedar Valley. The first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative poster, as well as a giveaway from local Kwik Star stores. The Dupaco Cowbell Cup rivalry matchup is also the first of this season's new Chick-fil-A Family 4-Pack nights, where fans can get a remarkable deal with four tickets, four chuck-a-pucks, and 32 Chick-fil-A nuggets for just $68. Before puck drop, The Official Party Town Warm Up begins at 4:30, just a block away at The Taproom @ Wonder Bread.

"Opening night sets the tone for a great home schedule which follows," said Black Hawks President and COO Joe Greene. "The year ahead will include a great combination of traditions and fan favorites, along with new promotions which will be fun for our most loyal fans, as well as bringing new people to Young Arena."

Some of the highlights include:

- Saturday, October 31 - No matter what the weather is like outside, kids in costume can trick-or-treat on the concourse and participate in a costume contest. Puck drop is at 3:05 p.m.

- Saturday, December 12 - Dan Gable Legacy Night salutes USA Wrestling legend and Waterloo native Dan Gable. Sponsored by U.S. Bank, the Hawks' special jerseys will be sold to benefit the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum.

- Sunday, January 3 - The Black Hawks partner with Alive & Running to promote mental health awareness, and after the game, fans are invited to skate with the team.

- Saturday, February 20 - A Night with the Black Hawks, presented by John Deere includes discounts for all John Deere employees, plus the Hawks on ice in green and yellow John Deere colors.
