Portland Pirates Sign Letter of Intent to Relocate Franchise

May 4, 2016 - Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates have announced that a letter of intent has been signed with an outsider buyer to purchase and relocate the AHL franchise to a new city. The details of the agreement were not disclosed and final sale is pending approval of the AHL Board of Governors and the Florida Panthers. All previously purchased season tickets for the 2016-2017 season will be refunded.... Full Story

April 30, 2016 - Hershey, PA - With an opportunity to end their Atlantic Division Semifinal series, the Portland Pirates were held without a goal Saturday night, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Hershey Bears at the GIANT Center in Game 4. The series is now tied 2-2. Travis Boyd opened the scoring when he found the back of the net on a Jakub Vrana pass at 12:51 of the first period. April 29, 2016 - Portland, ME - More than four hours after Game 3 began Rob Flick scored of an odd-man rush to give the Portland Pirates a 2-1 victory over the Hershey Bears in Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Semifinals Thursday Night at the GIANT Center. The triple over time contest snapped a 15 year-old franchise record by 64 seconds. The win gives the Pirates a 2-1 edge in the best-of-five series. Panthers Assign Shaw, Matheson, McKegg to Pirates

April 27, 2016 - Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that forwards Logan Shaw and Greg McKegg, as well as defenseman Mike Matheson, have been assigned to the Portland Pirates for the remainder of their run in the Calder Cup Playoffs. All three players saw action with the Panthers in their recent Stanley Cup Playoff series against the New York Islanders.
