Despite the strong start, Greensboro was right on the Knicks' trail, the Swarm taking the lead after the first few minutes of the second quarter. Damien Wilkins was hurting the Knicks, knocking down five of his six shots from the field.

Courtney Fells had the answer that Westchester needed, as he nailed back-to-back three-pointers within the six-minute mark of the second. Fells' sharp shooting tied the game, but Greensboro was able to reestablish its lead before halftime.

Greensboro came out of halftime and furiously protected its lead. It took the Knicks until the 5:52 minute mark to snatch it away from them, Courtney Fells leading the push to reclaim the lead as he hit another shot from beyond the arc. The game would be tied again two more times before the third concluded, but Greensboro closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run and entered the fourth with the lead.

Westchester weathered the initial storm, tying the game behind a Doron Lamb jump shot at 8:21.
