Westchester Knicks Suffer First Sting from Greensboro Swarm

WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks (15-21), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, fell at home 105-94 to the Greensboro Swarm (13-25), the Charlotte Hornets' affiliate.

John Jenkins led the Knicks in scoring, finishing with 20 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Courtney Fells was a force on the floor, delivering 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Damien Inglis supplied an offensive spark with 12 points and six assists while Von Wafer had 12 points of his own from the bench. Keith Wright also ended in double-digits, finishing with 10 points and five rebounds.

Greensboro's Damien Wilkins led all scorers with 26 points, adding six rebounds, four assists, and two steals from the bench. Shonn Miller also provided a nice game from the pine, finishing with 18 points and eight rebounds. Cat Barber knocked in 16 points to go with eight assists, while Mike Tobey notched a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Westchester owned the opening basket of the game. The shots were falling, and the Knicks never trailed in the opening quarter. Despite the strong start, Greensboro was right on the Knicks' trail, the Swarm taking the lead after the first few minutes of the second quarter. Damien Wilkins was hurting the Knicks, knocking down five of his six shots from the field.

Courtney Fells had the answer that Westchester needed, as he nailed back-to-back three-pointers within the six-minute mark of the second. Fells' sharp shooting tied the game, but Greensboro was able to reestablish its lead before halftime.

Greensboro came out of halftime and furiously protected its lead. It took the Knicks until the 5:52 minute mark to snatch it away from them, Courtney Fells leading the push to reclaim the lead as he hit another shot from beyond the arc. The game would be tied again two more times before the third concluded, but Greensboro closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run and entered the fourth with the lead.

Westchester weathered the initial storm, tying the game behind a Doron Lamb jump shot at 8:21. But the Swarm were not shaken, and as they went on a 13-0 run, the Knicks' chances of victory were dashed. Four of the Knicks' five starters were held scoreless during the final quarter, the home team ultimately falling 105-94.

The Westchester Knicks return to the historic Westchester County Center tomorrow, Feb. 26, taking on the Erie BayHawks, the Orlando Magic's affiliate, at 5:00 p.m. Life-size superheroes are taking over the arena for Superhero Night.

It's also Kids Sunday Funday: kids 14 and under can play knockout on the court with Hudson the mascot before the game and get access to a full team autograph session post-game. The game will be broadcast on MSG Networks and streamed live on Facebook Live.
