Westchester Knicks Soar Through Erie for Sixth Win in a Row

December 3, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release

ERIE, PA - The Westchester Knicks (6-1), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, has secured its sixth win in a row with a 105-103 defeat of the Erie BayHawks (1-7), the Orlando Magic's affiliate. With one more win, Westchester will tie its record start of 7-1, a feat the team accomplished to start the 2015-16 season.

Jordon Crawford paced Westchester with 22 points, hitting 3-of-4 from downtown and adding three a piece of rebounds and assists. Chasson Randle had 13 points with five assists in the win, while New York Knicks assignee Maurice N'Dour finished with 12 points, six rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. Devondrick Walker supplied 13 points from the bench, while Robert Vaden and Kevin Capers rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points each.

The BayHawks were carried by a trio of starters who combined for 71 points in the loss. Forward TJ Price led all scorers with 26 points, adding six assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Center Stephen Zimmerman had a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, also swiping down three blocks. Guard Ramon Galloway finished with 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The teams traded seven leads and four ties in the first quarter, but the game belonged to Westchester for the majority of the game. Though they only trailed by five after the first twelve minutes, the BayHawks found themselves down 22 in a dismal second quarter that saw the home team hit just 4-of-20 shots, going 0-for-6 from downtown. By the half, the Knicks were outshooting their opponents 59 to 31 percent, while hitting 50 percent from beyond the arc to Erie's 11 percent.

The BayHawks got a bit of a boost in the third, due in part to 11 turnovers from Westchester. But with its lead cut to just five points with 1:51 left in the quarter, the Knicks used a 17-6 run that trickled into the fourth to take back control up to 16 points.

Erie would not go down without a fight however, as the BayHawks took advantage of a shaky quarter from Westchester to keep things interesting towards the end. Using a 10-0 run, Erie managed to come back within two with 1:32 on the clock.

That's where the home team would stay though, as the Knicks held on for 105-103 win.

The Westchester Knicks are going galactic for its next game on Thursday, Dec. 8 for Star Wars Night, presented by Chase Freedom Unlimited. The 7:00 p.m. match-up against the Delaware 87ers, the Philadelphia 76ers' affiliate, will see the Knicks in special jerseys featuring a First Order Stormtrooper.
