December 30, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release

FT. WAYNE, IN - The Westchester Knicks (10-7), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, ended 2016 with a down-to-the-wire win over the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants (12-5), the Indiana Pacers' affiliate, by a final score of 94-92.

Von Wafer led the Knicks with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting, also contributing four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. On assignment from the New York Knicks, Marshall Plumlee finished with 16 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots while his teammate Ron Baker supplied nine points, six rebounds, and four each of steals and assists. Four additional Westchester players found double-digits on the night as Damien Inglis, Jordon Crawford, Kevin Capers, and Jaylen Bond each notched 10 points. Westchester's leading scorer Chasson Randle did not play due to illness.

Four of Ft. Wayne's five starters contributed double-digits to its score, led by Alex Pythress and Trey McKinney-Jones with 20 points each. Travis Leslie notched a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, adding four assists and two steals for good measure. Stephan Hicks just missed a double-double of his own, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds.

The Knicks used a 6-0 run in the first three minutes of the game to take a quick lead, but the Mad Ants would go on to outscore the visitors in the first quarter 21-17. In the second, Westchester began to speed up while slowing Ft. Wayne down, shooting 70 percent and holding the home team to just 32 percent. At the half, the Knicks had taken over the lead by a four-point margin. Westchester climbed up to a double-digit lead with just over one minute left in the third quarter, limiting the Mad Ants to a 16-point quarter while finishing on a 9-2 run. Ft. Wayne came back hot in the fourth though, keeping the game exciting until the very end. Keeping a double-digit lead through the first eight minutes in the final quarter, the Knicks gave way to 12-5 run from the Mad Ants to make it a two-point game with 26.2 seconds to go. While the Knicks then gained three quick points, a sinker from downtown via Ft. Wayne's McKinney-Jones made it a one-possession game again with 1.0 seconds on the clock. The Mad Ants were unable to convert that final gap though, and the Knicks took the game 94-92. The Westchester Knicks are on the road to begin the new year, traveling to Michigan to face the Grand Rapids Drive, the Detroit Pistons' affiliate, on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on Facebook Live.
