November 22, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, avoided a late comeback from the Iowa Energy, the Memphis Grizzles' affiliate, with a 113-106 win for its fourth straight victory of the season.
Knicks forward Damien Inglis came away with two NBA D-League career highs in the game, finishing with 23 points (previous high: 19) and 14 rebounds (previous high: 10). Forward Jaylen Bond met him in the double-double club off the bench, with 11 points and 10 rebounds of his own, while Keith Wright contributed 12 rebounds in the team's total of 55.
Guard Chasson Randle had 23 points in the win, with four rebounds and two assists, while Milwaukee Bucks assignee Rashad Vaughn had 15 points and two rebounds. Guard Kevin Capers also saw double-digits, finishing with 10 points off the bench.
Iowa forward Wayne Selden Jr. led all scorers in the game with 30 points, adding 10 rebounds for the double-double. Guard Kalin Lucas finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while Wade Baldwin IV contributed 15 points. Quinton Chievous and Perry Jones III came off the bench to supply 12 and 14 points respectively.
Neither team produced a solid first quarter; the beacon of light being Westchester's Chasson Randle, who had 10 of the team's 22 points in the first twelve minutes. But it was the second quarter that truly hurt Iowa, as the Energy only managed five points through the first six and a half minutes. The Knicks took full advantage, running up as much as a 27-point lead off of 12 points from Rashad Vaughn, and ended the half up 57-36.
The Energy fared slightly better in the third, but it was a monster fourth quarter that really made things interesting as the visitors went into the quarter down by 20. Backed by 15 points from Wayne Selden Jr., Iowa racked up 45 points in the final twelve minutes, shooting 18-for-30 and hitting 6-of-8 from downtown. Overcoming as much as a 22-point deficit in the quarter, the Energy closed the gap to five with 2.3 seconds on the clock. The Knicks held on though, winning the contest 113-106.
After a brief break for the holiday, the Westchester Knicks will return home to the historic Westchester County Center to face the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors' affiliate, on Wednesday, Nov. 30. The game will tip-off at 11:00 a.m. for the team's annual School Day game, which will focus on the importance of health and fitness. The game will be broadcast live on MSG Networks and on Facebook Live.
