Warriors Acquire Mychel Thompson; Finalize Opening Night Roster

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors have acquired Mychel Thompson the team announced today. In a related roster moved, the Warriors have waived guard Amere May Jr. to set the final opening night roster for the 2016-17 season. The roster consists of three returning players, four affiliate players, two 2016 NBA D-League draft picks, two local tryout players, and one player acquired through a draft night trade.

The 2015 NBA D-League Champion Mychel Thompson played for the Pallacanestro Varese of Italy, appearing in nine league games and five FIBA Europe Cup games during the 2015-16 season before re-joining the Santa Cruz Warriors last February. During the 2015-16 season with Santa Cruz, Thompson appeared in 14 games, averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals in 29.1 minutes
