
Warney, Legends Dominate Delaware

FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 11, 2017) -The Texas Legends (21-20) used a dominant performance from big man Jameel Warney to power past the Delaware 87ers (22-20) 131-92 Saturday night in Frisco.
Texas started off with back-to-back jumpers from Mavericks assignees Jarrod Uthoff and Manny Harris to take a 4-0 lead. Delaware responded with six straight for their first and only lead of the night, but a long ball from Harris would quickly recover the home team's advantage. Harris grabbed 12 points in the first, but the Legends would find themselves even with the visitors at the buzzer. Texas' spark came in the second when Ben Gordon knocked down 5-of-5 from outside to finish with 17 points in 12 minutes as Jameel Warney dominated the boards, grabbing 8 rebounds to match his 8 points. The boost lifted the Legends to a double-digit lead, going into the locker room at 61-44.
The Legends continued the hot streak in the third with a combined 60% outside shooting effort, while the 87ers went scoreless from the three and shot 40% overall to give the Legends a 29-point edge heading into the final minutes. Andre Dawkins carried the torch in the fourth, taking 15 points and closing out the 87ers in front of a sold-out home crowd.
Texas finished with six players in double-digits, shooting 51% overall and pulling down 59 boards. Warney tied Gordon for a game-high 24 points and grabbed a game-high (and season record) 20 rebounds to lead the Legends. Stephane Lasme blocked six shots while grabbing 10 rebounds and 6 points. Dawkins went 5-of-9 from beyond the arc to finish with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists. Mavericks teammates Harris (19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) and Uthoff (16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) also added balanced stat lines in their second game together.
Delaware finished at 34.3% overall with four players seeing double-digits. Nate Robinson came off the bench to lead the 87ers with 20 points, 5 rebounds, while Aaron Harrison and Russ Smith added 19 points apiece. Roscoe Smith neared a double-double for the visitors with 10 points, 9 rebounds.
