Macon Knights News Release

MACON, Ga. - The league announced today the first and second All-af2 teams for 2005. Representing the Knights on the American Conference's All-af2 first team is Matt Jackson at the WR/DB position and on the second team is Chris Johnson at the OS position. This is the first time in Knights history that two Knights players received all-af2 honors in the same year.

Matt Jackson had a strong rookie season and is also nominated for the league's Ironman of the Year award, which will be decided later this month. Jackson finished the season with 10 total touchdowns, five on kick returns and five receiving touchdowns. With this solid play on special teams and offense he backed it by playing just as well if not better on defense. Jackson finished the year with 60.5 tackles and 18 pass breakups; he also led the team in interceptions with nine and returned those for a total of 53 yards.

Chris Johnson started his year with the Georgia Force and hurt his knee early in their season, but he did not let that slow him down once he came back although his comeback was with the Knights. Johnson played only 14 games with the Knights but was the team's leading receiver with 113 receptions for 1,493 yards and 31 touchdowns, which leads the team in every category. Johnson also pitched in on special teams returning 14 kicks for 258 yards and a touchdown. Johnson also set or tied three Knights team records in 2005. Johnson set the single game record for receiving yards with 216, and set the single game touchdown mark with six receiving touchdowns, he also tied the record for longest reception with a 46 yard catch.

The Knights' season is over for 2005 but they are gearing up for a run at the championship in 2006. Knights season tickets for the 2006 season are on sell now and can be purchased at the Knights ticket office at Christ Chapel @ Sportstowne or by calling 314-3000, and remember There's Nothing Like the Knightlife!
