SALT LAKE CITY - Though the Salt Lake City Stars, the NBA D-League affiliate of the NBA's Utah Jazz, took the first lead of the game, the final score of the game read, 120-107, in favor of the league's defending champions, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
After relenting their early lead to the Skyforce, the Stars trailed most of the game. In the third quarter, Salt Lake City was able to cut the lead down to one, but the Skyforce ultimately outscored the Stars 30-24 in the final frame.
The Stars were led in scoring by Henry Sims, who finished with 22 points. Sundiata Gaines turned in a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, his first double-double of the season.
Sioux Falls was led by Greg Whittington, who came off the bench and scored a game-high 22 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting from the field. Keith Benson contributed a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
The game marked the final game in a three-game celebration of Military Appreciation Week. Salt Lake City will hit the road for a six-game East Coast trip. The Stars will be back at home Monday, March 27 to host the Santa Cruz Warriors at 7 p.m. at Bruin Arena. Tickets are available at slcstars.com, free of online fees.
