January 7, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Skyforce (16-5) added yet another record to the many they've broken over the past two seasons with their second rout of the Texas Legends (10-9) in as many nights.
It was the Skyforce's 20th straight regular season home win including last season, tying the Idaho Stampede for the longest such streak in NBA D-League history. Idaho's streak spanned the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.
Offense wasn't hard to come by for either side in Sioux Falls' 130-118 victory, and Keith Benson had himself a huge night with 30 points and 11 rebounds. It was his second 30+ point game in his last three contests and his 14th double-double.
A pair of Tony Wroten free throws gave Texas an 88-86 lead with 1:39 remaining in the third quarter, but from there it was all Skyforce.
Sioux Falls closed the frame on an 8-0 run to take a 94-88 lead and never trailed again. The Skyforce exploded for 36 points in the fourth quarter, and while the game looked like it would be close until the final buzzer, Sioux Falls pushed its lead to as many as 22 in the fourth.
Benson wasn't the only Skyforce player to have a big game. Briante Weber had six steals for the second straight night to go with 15 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Denver Nuggets assignee Malik Beasley scored 21 points off the bench, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Every Sioux Falls starter had at least 12 points.
Legends guard Manny Harris, who leads the league in scoring at 27.2 points per game, had 26 points, nine rebounds and five steals to lead Texas. Gary Neal added 24 points and Wroten scored 21 off the bench.
Sioux Falls hits the road to take on Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday.
