Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce today announced that they have acquired guard Patrick Miller from the Texas Legends in exchange for the player rights to Byron Wesley and their own 2017 third round draft pick. The Skyforce have waived Eric Weary Jr. in the process. The trade will become official pending player physicals.
Miller, a 6-1, 200-lb point guard, graduated from Tennessee State in 2014. Miller appeared in 126 games (121 starts) over four seasons at Tennessee State, and averaged double-figure points per game in all four seasons. As a senior, he averaged 23.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists in nearly 38 minutes per contest.
Miller was drafted by the Oklahoma City Blue in the 2015 NBA D-League Draft, then traded to the Texas Legends prior to the start of the season. He has appeared in 52 games for the Legends (13 starts) and has averaged 11.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in just over 27 minutes per game.
Last summer, Miller played for the Chicago Bulls in the 2016 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. He appeared in seven Summer League games for the Bulls and averaged 3.4 points in 10.8 minutes per game.
Miller's first opportunity to suit up for the Skyforce will come amidst a four-game road trip, as Sioux Falls travels to Iowa to take on the Energy on Saturday, December 3 followed by road contests against the Long Island Nets, Grand Rapids Drive, and Raptors 905.
