Atlantic City CardSharks News Release
Atlantic City, NJ, June 15, 2004 â The CardSharks offense has been getting all the glory thus far this season, but the defense is turning the tide as Cornerback Chonn Lacey has been name the Week 14 Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Lacey played a key role in the âSharks 41-27 victory over the visiting Fort Wayne Freedom.
Lacey picked off two passes, including a first-quarter interception return for a 21 yard touchdown. Lacey also pitched in with 2 tackles on the night, and had 3 passes defended. He has intercepted at least 1 pass in the last three games, and has 5 interceptions in that time.
"Chonn's speed and athletic ability make him a great threat on both sides of the ball," stated Head Coach Mike Siani. "He has been a valuable asset to our defense, and we may use him on the other side of the ball as well."
Playing on both sides of the ball will not be a new concept for Lacey. Lacey, a Temple University product, spent time earlier in the year with the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League. He also was featured at Wide Receiver and Cornerback at Temple University during his time as an Owl.
