Atlantic City CardSharks News Release
Atlantic City, NJ, July 7, 2004 â The National Indoor Football League announced their 2004 Divisional All-Stars on Wednesday afternoon. Four âSharks were chosen for this honor including: Quarterback Tony Racioppi, Wide Receiver Eric Magrini, Defensive End Eddie Bynes, and Cornerback Chonn Lacey.
Racioppi has been among the NIFL league leaders in nearly every category, including: Quarterback Rating (101.9%), completion percentage (57.5%), passing yards (2,183) and touchdowns (40). Racioppi, a newcomer to the indoor game, is a former Division III All-American at Rowan and played last season professionally in Italy.
One of Racioppi's main targets has been former Montclair State standout Eric "Easy" Magrini. Magrini, who tied for the team lead in receptions with Greg Muckerson, had 68 receptions during his rookie campaign with the âSharks. Magrini hauled in 15 touchdowns, and amassed 649 receiving yards during the regular season. Magrini also caught 6 two-point conversion attempts, to give him 102 points for the season.
Defensively, End Eddie Bynes has just begun to play his best ball of the season. The 2003 NIFL Defensive MVP was forced to sit out the first 5 games of the season. Since joining the âSharks from Ohio Valley, Bynes has recorded 10.5 sacks in 9 games. His best performance came last week against the Carolina Rays, as Bynes got to Quarterback Jimmy Smith 4 times. Bynes also has gotten to opponents ball carriers behind the line of scrimmage 16.5 times this season, for a total loss of 76 yards.
Temple University product Chonn Lacey was also a mid-season addition to the âSharks defense. Since joining the CardSharks, Lacey has picked off 5 passes in 9 games. Lacey, a cornerback by trade, has also shown his versatility by playing sporadically on the offensive side of the ball. Lacey has 3 catches in just 2 games at wideout this year. Lacey has also recorded a total of 35 tackles on the season, with 29 of the 35 being solo tackles.
The CardSharks will continue their run for the 2004 NIFL championship on Saturday, July 10 against the Lexington Horsemen in Lexington. For more information on the CardSharks, visit www.accardsharks.com, email us at info@accardsharks.com, or call 609-264-8700.
