Atlantic City CardSharks News Release

Atlantic City, NJ, June 26, 2004 – The CardSharks defeated the visiting Staten Island Xtreme 38-6 on Saturday night at Historic Boardwalk Hall. The ‘Sharks (8-5) defense led the way with 4 sacks and a safety, while holding Staten Island to just one score. The CardSharks move closer to clinching a playoff berth with their fifth consecutive victory. The ‘Sharks travel to Florence, South Carolina to battle the Carolina Rays on July 3rd, while the Xtreme (3-10) will travel to Lexington to face the Horsemen.

Starring for Chuck Murphy's Black Shirt defense was Brett Kolk. Kolk recorded 1.5 sacks, was in on 4 tackles and forced a safety. Eddie Bynes also got to Staten Island Quarterback Kevin Hanratty for 1.5 sacks, and contributed with 4 solo tackles and 2 assists.

"Nights like these remind you what it is to be a team," remarked Coach Mike Siani. "Some nights your offense has it and some nights your defense is all over the place. Tonight, the defense picked us up and that's why we've been so successful during the five game streak."

Offensively, Ron "Saint" Lewis reached the end zone 4 times en route to 45 yards on 13 carries. Kicker Matt Magrone contributed with 6 points, including a 40-yard field goal in the third quarter. Wide Receiver Eric Magrini led the ‘Sharks with 4 catches for 28 yards and hauled in one touchdown on the night.

The CardSharks will continue their run for the 2004 NIFL championship on Saturday, July 3 against the Carolina Rays. For more information on the CardSharks, visit www.accardsharks.com, email us at info@accardsharks.com, or call 609-264-8700.
