Santa Cruz Warriors News Release
SANTA CRUZ, CA - In partnership with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Scharf Investments has donated $2,300 to athletics programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County's Live Oak Clubhouse.
Scharf Investments raised $1,300 by auctioning warm-up jerseys signed by Santa Cruz Warriors players and contributed an additional $1,000. The check was presented at the BGCSCC Live Oak Clubhouse, which opened in March and is raising funds for a sport court to accommodate basketball and other athletics.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County will further benefit by receiving a portion of the ticket proceeds from Sunday's NBA Finals Watch Party at Kaiser Permanente Arena, where Golden State Warriors fans can watch the Santa Cruz Warriors' parent team battle the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the series live.
"The Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County is accomplishing great things with our children, and that is extremely apparent when you spend a few minutes around the kids' energy at the Live Oak Clubhouse," said Santa Cruz Warriors President Chris Murphy. "We appreciate the innovative ideas and actions of our partners at Scharf Investments that helped to make this donation possible."
The Boys & Girls Clubs have been part of the Junior Warriors program since the NBA D-League team relocated to Santa Cruz four years ago. While the basketball organization has hosted fit clinics and fundraising opportunities like a breakfast with Golden State Warriors legends Rick Barry and Jerry West, the Scharf partnership represents the first connection to the Live Oak Clubhouse.
"It's a meaningful relationship rooted in building community and supporting our kids," said Live Oak Clubhouse Director Jennifer Sherry. "Because of this kind of support, we can work to provide our kids with a high-caliber basketball program, similar to the popular basketball program at our Downtown Clubhouse."
"Scharf Investments, LLC. is honored to partner with the Santa Cruz Warriors to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County," said Michael Allard, vice president of client services for Scharf Investments. "The local Warriors have created tremendous impact Downtown. To work with them to extend that positive impact to boys and girls in other parts of our community is meaningful."
