Road Finale Ends the Wrong Way for Westchester Knicks

GREENSBORO, NC - The Westchester Knicks (18-29), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, dropped its final road game of the season in a 122-119 loss to the Greensboro Swarm (18-30), the Charlotte Hornets' affiliate.

Doron Lamb paced the Knicks with 28 points, adding five rebounds and three steals. Travis Trice II was right behind with him 25 points. John Jenkins and Keith Wright both finished with 13 points, Wright just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and a bonus of two blocked shots. Kevin Capers also had 13 points, with seven assists and four steals from the bench, while Nikola Jovanovic dropped 19 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double off the pine.

Rasheed Sulaimon was Greensboro's top scorer with 29 points; Car Barber just one-point shy with 28 and a notched double-double including 12 rebounds. Cheick Diallo gave a performance of 26 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots. Perry Ellis finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Damien Wilkins came off the bench for 14 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Westchester got off to a fiery start after John Jenkins owned the opening basket of the game, but Greensboro paced themselves and established a strong lead after going on a 9-0 run. The Knicks battled back, inching close to the lead, but some timely shooting by the Swarm kept Westchester in check. A 13-point deficit loomed over the Knicks as the second quarter began but after some efficient shooting, Westchester pulled within one. Despite Westchester's resurgence, Greensboro responded with a 10-0 run that put the lead firmly in its corner again.

The Swarm began the second half with a 10-point advantage. Each time the Knicks refueled a run, Greensboro answered back. Both teams managed to put up 32 points against one another in the third, but the Swarm entered the final quarter of play with another 10-point lead. However, the Knicks mounted a daring comeback in the fourth. Westchester went on a 9- 0 run in the game's final two minutes to tie things up at 119 apiece, but Greensboro's Rasheed Sulaimon made a driving layup to follow to put the Swarm back on top. Westchester couldn't buy a bucket after evening the score, and the Swarm walked away with the victory.

The Westchester Knicks return home to the historic Westchester County Center for the final three games of the 2016-17 season beginning with a 7:00 p.m. ET matchup against the Canton Charge, the Cleveland Cavaliers' affiliate, on Tuesday, March 28. The game will be broadcast on MSG Networks and streamed on Facebook Live.
